Alright fellow transportation geeks, you say you want to influence the direction of transportation projects in our community?  Here’s your chance:

AMATS is seeking AMATS page from community members interested in volunteering to serve on the newly formed Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). This recruitment closes Friday, October 23, 2015 at 5pm.

ABOUT THE CAC
The CAC consists of 11 members, with six (6) of those members being appointed to fill a seat representing each of the Assembly districts within the Municipality of Anchorage.
Committee members serve a term of three (3) years beginning on February 15th of the year of appointment and shall expire on February 14th the year their term expires. Members may be reappointed one (1) time.
The other five (5) members of the committee are prescribed, consisting of one (1) member each representing:
  • The Federation of Community Councils
  • The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce
  • The Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce
  • The Municipal Planning and Zoning Commission
  • Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER)
MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
The Policy Committee encourages that membership on the CAC reflect diversity with regard to ethnicity, profession, and geographic location, and shall consider representation from academia, youth groups, and/or senior groups.
The members should reflect a broad cross-section of local residents with an interest in developing an efficient, safe and cost-effective transportation system. The CAC should include representation by persons with disabilities, women, minorities, and persons of low income.
DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE
The CAC will review, comment, and guide the Policy Committee, through the Technical Advisory Committee on matters related to transportation. These efforts include but not limited to the following work programs:
SELECTION PROCESS
Members of the public interested in filling one (1) of the six (6) Assembly district seats should submit a letter of interest and a completed AMATS page to amatsinfo@muni.org by Friday, October 23, 2015 at 5pm.
Completed applications and letters of interest will be considered by a three (3) member review board consisting of the AMATS Coordinator, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Anchorage Area Planner, and an AMATS Transportation Planner.
